Careful, SPOILER ALERT!
As I was saying on the 20th episode of the fifth season of House M.D. TV show, Lawrence Kutner commits suicide with a self inflicted gun shot to the head.
While House gets a new patient as a normal episode of the show, he realizes that Kutner is late for work and he asks about him, Taub answers that he was sick and he will be back in a while, but after a while House sends Thirteen and Foreman to check up on him.
When the couple arrives to Kutner’s apartment they find the death body of their colleague laying on the floor of this bedroom.
So the question is: Why did the write off Kal Penn’s character from the show?
The answer to that question is complicated there are many gossip websites that are relating his (fictional) death.
What you need to know is that:
- Yes, Lawrence Kutner is really death.
- No, it wasn’t the effect of Vicodin on House’s head.
- No, Kal Penn wasn’t fired, he asked to leave.
- Yes, Kal Penn is gone from the show for good.
The real reason is that Kal Penn is going after a public office in the White House in the executive building, Penn explains on an interview that he will be there as long as Obama is in office, but that this is a relative recent development.
He (Mr.. Penn) acknowledges that he will take a huge pay cut, which means that he will get paid a lot less than what he is paid for doing Kutner, he also explains that he is doing it mostly for the honor of it.
You may read the full interview with Kal Penn here.
I hope this helps since the creators of the show didn’t really explain the whole thing about Kutner’s Suicide.
